Nonlinear films is a company dedicated to one goal: to change the way we watch movies. We live in amazing times, filled with with amazing technology. Technology that changes the way we work, play and live. We are going to change the way you watch movies.
Our company makes movies you control. The days of movies being a passive experience are gone. Now the audience controls how a movie plays out. Non Linear Films Lab has bought a Creative Story Telling Device that allows you to make Passive & Active Choices for Characters in the Film. There is more than one outcome to see. The Decisions that are made along the way will change the direction of the film.
Non Linear Films are the future of audience entertainment and will be the newest and last genre to change the way movies are watched. For the first time the story plot and character choices will be manipulated by the audience collectively and displayed in a seamless manner. The nonlinear experience engages audiences with two types of choices: passive, and active.
Passive choices enable the collective audience to manipulate minor variances in the characters lives, like what to have for lunch or whether or not to take a coffee break, and even things like flirting.
Active choices have more immediate effects on the characters and story. These tend to be of greater magnitude and seriousness like of that of the human fight or flight response.
In both passive and active choices, the results and outcomes reflect that of real life. Although you may plan or make choices on what you want to happen in life, things do not always go the way you think they will.
How does the voting system work? The voting system is done on a one vote one device basis. For each choice presented to the audience, each individual will be given a chance to cast a vote consisting of 2, 3, or even 4 choices from their mobile device. The votes, will be tallied and displayed back to the audience in real time as choices are executed not only controlling the flow of the movie, but also resulting in Meta Conversations amongst the audience.
What are Meta Conversations? Meta Conversations are the result of the feedback displayed on screen in the form of percentages as to how the collective audience voted. Meta Conversations allow the audience to speak silently to one another in agreement or disagreement to the information presented to them on screen. Every individual will instantly feel either confirmed in their beliefs or doubt they have made the right choice. Meta Conversations create a new and exciting feeling that the audience had never had before and doesn’t know they are already addicted to. The great thing about meta conversations is that the audience can “speak” silently to one another about how they collectively feel without saying a single word.
Reinventing the theater experience Theater attendance is at an all time low for most films, unless they are blockbuster hits, due to the advent of subscription television and video on demand distributors. In combination with the popularity of home theaters most people would rather pay extra to download a movie in the comfort and leisure of their own home. These recent advents have discouraged otherwise happy theatergoers from attending in person. Thanks to the good people at Nonlinear Technology, for the first time viewers can silently communicate with one another while watching a film and collectively effect how the story unfolds. This new found technology allows the audiences to suspend disbelief further then ever before resulting in deeper submersion and higher levels of engagement of the viewing audience then previously allowed.
Once you experience it for yourself, the endless possibilities of this style of film-making begin to become clear. We can now generate films and movies experience that place the audience in the detective’s mind making choices right along long with the clues he uncovers, or maybe the audience is trapped inside the house with the killer. Will they be able to work cooperatively and live to see the credits? Imagine possibly the most riveting of example: that of the gladiator’s defeat before emperor. Will the audience give him the thumbs up or will it be thumbs down? Life or death literally can now be in the audiences collective hands.
For the first time in story telling history since Shakespeare wrote the words “To be or not to be” you finally have a choice.
